Sean Gaffney Named CGS3's Newest Partner
Expanding its partnership, Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3), a Southern California-based commercial real estate law firm, has promoted Sean Gaffney to partner. Gaffney, who joined CGS3 as senior counsel in 2019, is based in the firm's San Diego headquarters.
According to Gregory Markow, a partner and chair of the disputes and litigation practice group, Gaffney is a seasoned litigator and a key member the firm's growing real estate litigation practice team. "With the COVID-19 pandemic roiling CRE markets, we are seeing a sharp increase in disputes and expect a surge in litigation as our clients experience the prolonged effects of shutdown orders and business restrictions. Sean's leadership, expertise with complex corporate and business disputes and years of real world experience are critical to the outsized capabilities afforded by CGS3 to our clients as we ramp up to meet their needs during these challenging times."
With over 20 years of litigation experience, Gaffney has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in all phases of trial work and alternative dispute resolution relating to California real estate law, including distressed assets and workouts, claims arising from failed real estate transactions and development projects; landlord/tenant disputes; corporate, partnership and LLC governance disputes; construction and property management insurance coverage disputes; construction defect and delay claims; and eminent domain and public/government construction claims.
Sean Southard, a CGS3 founding partner, added, "Sean's election into our growing partnership is a testament to CGS3's ability to attract and promote industry-leading attorneys. His proven commitment to our clients is matched only by his commitment to our firm and unique culture. We look forward to his growing leadership on the years to come."
Gaffney was previously a member of the commercial litigation group at Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP in San Diego, where he worked for eight years. Prior to that, he practiced with San Diego-based Sullivan Hill and with the boutique litigation firm Davidovitz & Bennett LLP in San Francisco.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of San Diego and earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. He is active in the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and is a member of the American Bar Association, Association of Business Trial Lawyers and the San Diego County Bar Association.
