NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--R4 Capital, a national affordable housing syndicator, lender, and asset manager, announced the appointment of Ronne Thielen as Director of Public Policy and Advocacy. Cory Bannister has rejoined the firm to assume Ms. Thielen’s role as Director of LIHTC Acquisitions for the Western Region. Cory will be based in the Newport Beach, California office.

As a national investor with over $3 billion of capital under management, the creation of this new role enables R4 Capital to be a direct participant in the evolution of state and federal affordable housing policy. Ms. Thielen is uniquely qualified to contribute to this discussion, with a 42-year real estate finance and investment career as an affordable housing advocate and industry leader who helped establish the LIHTC program in 1986. Since opening R4’s California office in 2012, she has acquired housing tax-credit properties with total development costs exceeding $1.55 billion. In her new role, Ms. Thielen will promote and encourage affordable housing initiatives to expand availability and inventory where it is needed most.

Says Marc Schnitzer, R4 Capital President and CEO, “Ronne is an outspoken supporter of affordable housing demonstrated by her varied career: allocator, consultant, syndicator, and NCSHA Deputy Director for Program and Policy Development. She is an ally and resource for state agencies, elected officials, developers and, investors. Her new role will be beneficial for the longevity and sustainability of affordable housing programs in the U.S.”

Mr. Bannister’s decade-long career in affordable housing has toggled between syndicator and developer. He rejoins R4 to lead LIHTC acquisitions in the Western Region (Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming). Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Bannister began his career at Prudential Mortgage Capital structuring loans to affordable housing developments and worked for two prominent West Coast affordable housing developers where he developed over 890 units of affordable housing with total development costs exceeding $200 million. He received a BA in Urban Studies and an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering, both from Stanford University.
